LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- A big step forward for the Little Rock Port Authority was completed Thursday, thanks to a grant made by the Department of Transportation.

Much-needed improvements have been made to the harbor, including a new dock and rail storage.

Congressman French Hill (R- Arkansas) accepted the ceremonial “final spike”, signaling the completion of phase one of the work.

“We are so busy, and industry is so strong that we did not have the capacity to serve our customers and give them choice on moving their products around the country,” says Brian Day, the Executive Director of the Little Rock Port Authority.

The “Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery”, or “TIGER” Grant is a nation-wide funding program, and the Little Rock port authority was among 40 applications from a pool of 585 to receive these funds.
