Today, Reps. French Hill (R-AR) and Ted Deutch (D-FL), co-chairs of the Congressional Task Force on American Hostages and Americans Wrongfully Detained Abroad, released the following statement regarding former U.S. Marine Trevor Reed's release from Russia: “We are thrilled that Trevor Reed has been released and will be reunited with his family. Russia’s wrongful detention of Americans must end now. Even as we work to free other Americans held, we will not relent in our opposition to Russia’s unjust war on Ukraine. Trevor should never have been detained, and we stand ready to assist him and his family in any way. “We continue to demand Russia release Paul Whelan and others, and we call on any country that engages in political hostage taking to stop this despicable practice.” For more information on the Bipartisan Task Force on American Hostages and Americans Wrongfully Detained Abroad, click HERE. |
