Business Leaders Voice Support for Launch of House Entrepreneurship Caucus

WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, leaders in the business community praised the launch of the bipartisan House Entrepreneurship Caucus. The caucus will serve as a forum for policy discussions and collaboration to address the most pressing issues facing entrepreneurs throughout the country. The caucus will seek to analyze new business formation trends and form a wide-ranging strategy to boost entrepreneurship growth, ensuring new business ventures continue to create jobs and drive innovation.

“With an Entrepreneurship Caucus now established in both the House and Senate, we have an unprecedented opportunity to advance a pro-entrepreneurship and innovation agenda that will bring more robust and inclusive economic growth and opportunity to America,” said John Dearie, founder and President of the Center for American Entrepreneurship.

“Our economy is built on the ingenuity and work ethic of small business owners,” said Small Business Investor Alliance President Brett Palmer. “American entrepreneurs drive economic growth, create good-paying jobs, and positively impact communities in every corner of our nation and around the world. These entrepreneurs need access to capital and policies that facilitate continued investment and growth so they can thrive in an ever-changing global marketplace. SBIA is excited to partner with this bipartisan caucus to further those ends.”

“The U.S. Chamber of Commerce believes in the power of entrepreneurs to create jobs, innovate, and build communities,” said Tom Sullivan, Vice President of Small Business Policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “We applaud the creation of the bi-partisan entrepreneurship caucus and view this as a tremendous opportunity for Congress to focus on policies that make it easier for start-ups and small businesses to grow.”

“It’s important for our elected leaders to pursue policies that boost innovation, growth, and startup success,” said Evan Engstrom, Executive Director of Engine. “That’s why we’re pleased to support the launch of the bipartisan House Entrepreneurship Caucus, which will allow lawmakers to better engage with the entrepreneurial community about their top policy concerns and challenges. The House Entrepreneurship Caucus will support startups by ensuring that policies and legislative priorities do not hamper entrepreneurial excellence across the United States.”

The caucus will be led by Co-Chairs Congressman French Hill (R-AR), Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL), Congressman Steve Chabot (R-OH), Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy (D-FL), Congressman David Schweikert (R-AZ), and Congressman Marc Veasey (D-TX).

Formation of the caucus is supported by the Center for American Entrepreneurship, Small Business Investor Alliance (SBIA), the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Innovation Group, the National Venture Capital Association, the Angel Capital Association, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, the Archbridge Institute, Third Way, Engine, the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council, the National League of Cities, the Small Business Majority, and the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO).
