NEA airports among those to receive federal grant money

Arkansas lawmakers announced several airports will get federal funding for improvements.

A total of 13 airports in Arkansas will receive part of $8.5 million from the Federal Aviation Administration, according to a joint announcement by U.S. Senators John Boozman and Tom Cotton, along with Congressmen Rick Crawford, French Hill, Steve Womack and Bruce Westerman.

The money will be used for facility upgrades and expansions.

In northeast Arkansas, 4 airports will get FAA funds:

  • Batesville Regional Airport will receive $438,971 to extend its taxiways to provide more aircraft parking.
  • Osceola Municipal Airport will receive $157,500 to update the facility’s master plan and address future development needs.
  • Piggott Municipal Airport will receive $90,900 to improve runway safety to be in compliance with FAA design standards.
  • West Memphis Municipal Airport will receive $249,236 to update its master plan to reflect current and future needs of the airport.
