A strong infrastructure is essential to a strong U.S. economy and key to encouraging job growth and promoting commerce. America’s infrastructure is aging and it has significant infrastructure needs, particularly in our ports & waterways, highway and bridge repairs, airports, border crossings, surface water irrigation and distribution projects, intermodal facilities, power generation, and drinking water distribution. We need a long-term solution to funding that improves our infrastructure system without putting additional burdens on U.S. taxpayers. I am committed to working with my colleagues to pass a budget that balances, while ensuring effective federal spending that supports vital transportation and infrastructure projects.
