RELEASE: HILL URGES SENATE DEMOCRATS TO END GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN
WASHINGTON, D.C.,
October 1, 2025
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. French Hill (AR-02) today issued the following statement on the federal government shutdown. “I came to Congress to solve problems and deliver for central Arkansas families. That's why it's so frustrating to watch Senate Democrats vote to shut down the government instead of voting for a clean, short-term funding bill—the same type of bill they've supported more than a dozen times in recent years, including just six months ago. “Now, instead of doing the important work of helping our farmers, lowering costs for families, and strengthening our economy, Democrats have created an unnecessary, self-inflicted crisis that puts essential services at risk. Services for veterans and seniors will be scaled back. Our soldiers, Border Patrol agents, and air traffic controllers won't receive their paychecks. And families who rely on food assistance have to worry about losing the help they need. “I urge Senate Democrats to end the shutdown so we can get back to work. In the meantime, my offices will remain open, and my team and I are available to serve central Arkansas.” |
