RELEASE: REP. HILL RESPONDS TO STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

  • Teresa Belew
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Rep. French Hill (AR-02) today released the following statement after President Biden delivered the annual State of the Union address.

“The opioid and substance use crisis has plagued our nation for far too long, including at home in Arkansas. Teresa Belew, Board Chairman of Speakup About Drugs, supports families as they cope with the hardship of having a loved one suffering from addiction. She was a strong advocate for my bill that was signed into law in 2022, which encourages doctors who prescribe opioids to simultaneously co-prescribe life-saving opioid overdose reversal drugs. Teresa is devoted to fighting this epidemic and making a difference in the lives of Arkansans impacted by addiction, and I was honored to have such a fierce advocate as my guest tonight.

“We cannot allow more families to be destroyed by dangerous opioids. As America continues to face the largest crisis at our southwest border in history, deadly drugs like fentanyl pour across our border and devastate families. It is well past time for President Biden and his Administration to step up and address the crisis they have created by not enforcing current U.S. law or repealing border policies that work.

“Throughout his three years in office, President Biden has led our nation in the wrong direction. The Biden Administration’s economic illiteracy, incompetence on foreign policy, and failure to secure our border has endangered our country and put our national security at risk. America is worse off because of his weak leadership.”
