WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. French Hill (AR-02) today released the following statement after the House passed $14.3 billion in aid to Israel.
“Israel is our strongest Middle East ally and needs our assistance now more than ever. I was proud to support Israel with the aid it needs to protect itself from Hamas’ barbaric terrorist attacks. House Republicans passed critical aid for Israel and are returning necessary fiscal responsibility to Washington. America will continue to stand firmly with the people of Israel and help however is needed.”
Further Background:
Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act: This bill would require the Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State to provide written reports to Congress detailing our security assistance to ensure accountability for Americans, increase Israel’s defense capabilities, enhance security presence at the U.S. Embassy, and more. Funding for this aid comes from recessions from President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 – specifically Section 10301, which appropriated enhanced funding for the IRS.
