RELEASE: REP. HILL VOTES TO OVERTURN PRESIDENT BIDEN'S FIRST VETO

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. French Hill (AR-02) today issued the following statement after voting to overturn President Biden's veto of H.J. Res. 30:

“Both the House and the Senate rejected one of President Biden’s most punishing mandates that he pushed on hard-working Americans. Instead of supporting our bipartisan and common-sense legislation, President Biden issued the first veto of his Presidency, siding with the liberal policies of ESG rather than encouraging financial managers to prioritize the growth of retirement accounts of American workers.

"People saving for retirement through their 401(k)s or relying on their pensions should not have to worry about whether their hard-earned money is really being invested to maximize their returns. In an economy where Americans are already struggling to keep up with the unsustainable costs caused by inflation, the Biden Administration is promoting the abuse of fiduciary authority to promote leftist policies.”

Further Background:

  • H.J. Res. 30 - Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Labor relating to "Prudence and Loyalty in Selecting Plan Investments and Exercising Shareholder Rights."
