RELEASE: REP. HILL VOTES AGAINST $1.8 TRILLION SPENDING PACKAGE
WASHINGTON, D.C.,
December 23, 2022
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. French Hill (AR-02) today issued the following statement after voting against the $1.8 trillion government spending package for FY 2023. “Democrats have pushed trillions in new spending the past two years and this bill only adds to the fiscal problems we currently face. As inflation continues to hurt the wallets of all Americans, I could not in good faith vote to pass this $1.8 trillion omnibus that will make inflation worse and drive our country further into debt. “We cannot continue to put our nation’s fiscal crisis on the backs of our children and grandchildren. As House Republicans retake the majority in the 118th Congress, now is the time to act for central Arkansans and all Americans. It is time for Congress to stop this reckless behavior by using regular legislative order in Congress, reforming our budget process, returning to pre-pandemic spending priorities and passing our annual spending on time every year, and starting the hard work of addressing the drivers of inflation.” |
