WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives unanimously passed Rep. French Hill’s (AR-02) bill, H.R. 6080, the Ronald A. Robinson Act, by voice vote. Rep. Hill’s bill will name the Post Office on Kavanaugh Boulevard in Little Rock after Ronald A. Robinson, known to many as Ron Robinson, who served on the US Postal Service's Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee for 15 years and served as Chair of the Committee for 3 years.

Ahead of House passage, Rep. Hill spoke on the House Floor about his bill:

Topline Quotes:
  • “Ron lived an extraordinary life that included serving with distinction an Air Force Captain, communications professional, and an avid stamp collector."
  • “Ron served 15 years on the United States Postal Service Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee. He also served as Chair of the committee from 2005 to 2008.”
  • “During his tenure, he was involved in the creation and development of 1,750 postage stamps.”
  • “Ron's love for postage stamps and his work on the United States Postal Service Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee makes him the ideal citizen to name his neighborhood post office after in recognition of his lifetime service to Arkansas and America.”

Reid Robinson, Ron Robinson’s son, said, "As a consummate promoter and communicator of the greatness Arkansas had to offer throughout his professional career, having his love of all things philatelic somehow remembered in the history of our community would have pleased and humbled my father beyond words. He was emphatic that everyone should love stamps and Arkansas like he did. My father saw great value in the power of the handwritten note, evidenced by his reputation for almost everyone he encountered receiving some sort of personal note in the mail. When President Clinton recommended him to serve as Arkansas’s first and only member of the USPS Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee (CSAC), it was a dream come true. Appointments are limited to a maximum of three 4-year terms which he served proudly to completion, ending as President of the CSAC. You could see the pride in endeavor of service, it was an esteemed honor through which he wanted to make Arkansas proud. He invested great energy and recruited many Arkansans to do the same during his time of service as he saw the USPS as something citizens should take pride in. He knew since the days of the Pony Express that the USPS served all US Citizens by providing the ability to communicate, regardless of distance, whether it be of personal nature or to further the economy. My family is touched that Ron Robinson is remembered as he was, a passionate champion for the USPS and Arkansas.”
