RELEASE: Rep. Hill Votes Against Democrats’ Latest Tax and Spending Spree
WASHINGTON, D.C.,
August 12, 2022
Rep. French Hill (AR-02) issued the following statement after voting against Democrats’ latest tax-and-spending spree, the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act.” “Arkansans face 40-year highs in inflation and are struggling to put food on the table, fill up their gas tanks, and cool their homes because of the Biden Administration’s economic illiteracy. And Democrats’ solution? Doubling down on their 'Build Back Broke' agenda. “Just because Democrats titled the bill the 'Inflation Reduction Act,' doesn’t mean the bill reduces inflation. Democrats’ ‘solution’ provides $80 billion to the IRS to hire an army of 87,000 agents to audit hardworking American families and businesses, raises taxes on 4.7 million Main Street businesses as the country enters a recession, limits stock buybacks, reducing retirement security for our seniors and harming millions of Americans invested in a 401(k), and expands Obamacare subsidies. The truth is, Democrats’ bill will do little to nothing to reduce inflation and sadly, hard working families, farmers, and small business owners in central Arkansas will bear the burden.” |
