“For nearly two decades, Putin has routinely defied international law. He has engaged in a mass-murder partnership with the Assad regime in Syria, had civilians murdered in broad daylight in the UK, and invaded sovereign nations as desired. Yet, he has paid no price. “In fact, President Biden’s permissive posture — at the helm of the Senate Foreign Relation Committee, as the second half of the Obama-Biden administration and now as president — have only further enabled Putin to fulfill his ambitions. The result: the continued occupation of South Ossetia, the annexation of Crimea, and the green lighting of Nord Stream 2. “And today, Putin invaded Ukraine - again. Donetsk and Luhansk are regions of a sovereign Ukraine, not Russia. Mr. President, now is the time to work with Congress on comprehensive sanctions and coordinate with our allies to demonstrate to the Ukrainian people that the leaders of the free world back their sovereignty." |
