WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Financial Services Committee Ranking Member Patrick McHenry (R-NC) appointed Rep. French Hill (R-AR) to serve as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on National Security, International Development, and Monetary Policy. “I am honored to continue my role as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on National Security, International Development, and Monetary Policy. Now more than ever, U.S. engagement in the world is vital to the wellbeing of Arkansas and our nation as a whole,” said Rep. Hill. “Whether through overseeing monetary policies to support American industries and jobs, strengthening our national security through sanctions, or stopping rogue states and bad actors from conducting illegal financial activity, I am committed to advancing the interests of the United States in the global financial system. “The United States and our allies face many challenges across the globe that demand intelligent and reliable engagement. In my role as Ranking Member, I have had the privilege to work with international counterparts in Japan, South Korea, Colombia, Portugal, Hungary, and the United Kingdom on issues ranging from global trade to combatting illicit drug flows from Central and South America. I congratulate my friend Jim Himes in his new role as Chairman of the Subcommittee. It has been an honor to serve alongside him in Congress and look forward to continuing our work on the House Financial Services Committee to strengthen our economy and national security through bipartisan, pro-growth solutions that benefit Arkansas, the United States, and all nations across the world.” “I am honored to be selected by my colleagues on the House Financial Services Committee and Chairwoman Waters to serve as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security, International Development, and Monetary Policy. The broad jurisdiction of the subcommittee will allow us to focus on the independence of our monetary policy and the integrity of the Federal Reserve; the efficient functioning of multilateral financial institutions; and most importantly, on how the American financial system can be protected from attack and misuse by those who would threaten our national security,” said Rep. Jim Himes. “I’m very pleased that my friend and colleague Representative Hill will serve as the Ranking Member of the subcommittee. I’m eager for us to work together in bipartisan fashion to protect and advance security, peace, and growth for the United States and beyond.” Background: The Subcommittee on National Security, International Development, and Monetary Policy has jurisdiction over legislation in the House pertaining to:
