Financial protection chief visits state
1/23/2020 Arkansas Democrat Gazette The head of the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau spent Wednesday in Arkansas, meeting with banking executives to get feedback on her organization's work and to better understand the challenges faced by financial institutions. Kathy Kraninger, director of the agency, also visited the Little Rock Venture Center to meet with participants in the ICBA ThinkTech accelerator program, which includes 10 early-stage companies developing products and services to enhance digital offerings for community banks. Wednesday afternoon, Kraninger met with about 15 Arkansas bankers, representing both public and private banks in the state. The meeting included the top executives from Eagle Bank, First Arkansas Bank and Trust, Home Bancshares and Simmons First National Corp., among others. Kraninger was invited to Arkansas by U.S. Rep. French Hill, who serves on the House Committee on Financial Services. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is responsible for consumer protection in the financial sector. |
