Rep. Hill Applauds Compromise to Protect the Buffalo River Watershed
Washington,

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman French Hill (AR-02) released the following statement after Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson announced an agreement with C&H Hog Farms, Incorporated to cease operations of the 6,500-pig feeding facility located on a major tributary of the Buffalo National River:
“I welcome Governor Hutchinson’s announcement of a mutually satisfactory arrangement with C&H Hog Farms to cease operations. In my view, the initial approval of this large-scale operation near the sensitive Buffalo River watershed was ill-conceived. It's my hope that all stakeholders have learned from this extended challenge. I look forward to collaborating with local residents, farmers, as well as state and federal conservation officials, in creating a healthy watershed environment. Protecting the pristine Buffalo River is essential to preserving the livelihoods of countless Arkansans in north central Arkansas.” |
