Arkansas Congressional Delegation Members were sworn into new terms Tuesday. U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) took the oath of office to begin his second term representing Arkansas in the United States Senate.
“I am incredibly grateful for the trust Arkansans have placed in me to continue representing our great state in Washington. I am pleased to continue fighting for common sense solutions that make Washington work for Arkansas families and businesses,” Boozman said.
Boozman is the first Republican Senator in Arkansas history to serve a second term. His wife Cathy, three daughters and two granddaughters joined him for this historic occasion. Boozman took the oath of office on a New Testament Bible carried by his father during WWII.
In the 115th Congress, Boozman will serve on the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry; Committee on Appropriations; Committee on the Budget; Committee on Environment and Public Works; and the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.
Congressman Bruce Westerman (AR-4) was sworn in Tuesday for a second term representing the Fourth Congressional District of Arkansas in the United States House of Representatives.
“It is a great honor and privilege to serve the hardworking taxpayers of the Fourth Congressional District,” Westerman said. “As we start the 115th Congress, I will continue the fight to undo President Obama’s executive overreach. I will work with President-elect Donald Trump and my colleagues in Congress to restore Constitutional authority granted to the legislative branch, to simplify our tax code, and to repeal Obamacare once and for all. The next two years will be full of action as I join my colleagues in executing the mandate the American people delivered on November 8th."
The official swearing in the House chamber will be followed by a ceremonial swearing in with Speaker of the House Paul Ryan in the Rayburn Room of the U.S. Capitol. Westerman was joined for the ceremony by his oldest son, Eli.
An open house is set to be held Tuesday afternoon at Westerman's Washington office for constituents to have a chance to visit with Westerman and the Fourth District staff.
Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) was sworn in Tuesday for a fourth term representing the Third District of Arkansas in the United States House of Representatives.
“There is no finer honor than representing a district as dynamic as Arkansas’ Third, and with each vote I take, I try to live up to the support and confidence bestowed upon me by my constituents," Womack said. “I am anxious to see the 115th Congress unfold as we work with a unified government to address the many challenges facing our nation. I wholeheartedly believe America is in great hands.”
Congressman Womack serves on the House Appropriations Committee and represents Arkansans in Benton, Boone, Carroll, Crawford, Marion, Newton, Pope, Searcy, Sebastian, and Washington Counties.
Also beginning new terms in Washington, D.C., are Congressman Rick Crawford (AR-1) representing the First District of Arkansas, and Congressman French Hill (AR-2) representing the Second District of Arkansas.
