AR Congressional Delegation Safe, Louisiana Congressman Wounded in Virginia Park Shooting

All members of the Arkansas congressional delegation are reported safe after a shooting incident outside the nation's capital Wednesday morning.

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana) was shot in Alexandria, Virginia, a House colleague told CNN, in what sources are calling an apparent "deliberate attack." A congressional staffer was also shot.

Arkansas representatives and senators took to Twitter to report they were okay:

  • "I'm horrified at the senseless act of violence at congressional baseball practice. Praying for @SteveScalise Capitol Police & other victims." - Sen. John Boozman (R-AR)
  • "Senator Cotton was not at the baseball practice this morning. His thoughts and prayers are with Rep. Scalise, staffers, Capitol police officers, and all who were impacted by this morning's shootings. He is grateful to the Capitol Police and the first responders for their swift action and all they do to keep members of Congress, our staff members, and all visitors to the Capitol safe." - Dylan K.   • "I am ok. I was not at the baseball practice. My prayers are with @SteveScalise and all of the others who were injured this morning." - Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-AR, Dist. 4)
