Washington,
September 26, 2018
WASHINGTON – Congressman French Hill (AR-02) issued the following statement after President Trump and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced their intention to enter into negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement between the United States and Japan: “As a member of the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission, I am pleased to see Japan and the United States announce their intentions to enter into bilateral trade negotiations. I had the pleasure of representing the United States as a negotiator in the historic bilateral talks with Japan known as the Structural Impediments Initiative (SII) during the first Bush Administration, and I am confident that a future bilateral trade agreement between the United States and Japan will only strengthen the friendship and economic partnership between our two countries.” |
