Veterans Appreciation Day Celebration

Monticello Middle School Art and EAST students will be celebrating veterans Saturday. The students have worked all year interviewing veterans, editing footage, creating artwork for the 28 veterans to be honored, and creating the documentary and slideshow. Their work will be on display, along with a luncheon and entertainment for those veterans. The students ask everyone to join in on the day of honoring all our veterans and active service within our community.

SCHEDULE
10:30 a.m.: Parade begins at First Baptist Church, 413 North Main Street, for all veterans and armed forces—with police and fire escort—to Monticello Middle School. All community members are encouraged to come out wearing their red, white and blue, showing partriotism for our veterans and armed forces.  

11 a.m.: Private luncheon for veterans, family members and invited guests provided by Ray's and teachers/parents of MMS.

Noon: Documentary premier and art exhibit for 28 veterans, families, invited guests sand representative from U.S. Rep. French Hill's office, Interim Mayor David Anderson will sign a proclamation designating May 20 as Veterans Appreciation Day and community members.

1:30 p.m.: Patriotic entertainment

3 p.m.: Meet-and-greet a veteran at MMS auditorium/cafeteria/parking lot areas

The public is invited to line the parade route and support the veterans. And, the public is invited to the documentary and entertainment with limited seating. Veterans and families, along with invited guests, will have first seating with others filling in.
