LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – On Friday, May 27, 2016, Congressman French Hill (AR-02) and Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence (MI-14) will travel throughout the Second Congressional District to promote jobs and opportunities in the skilled trades. Congressman Hill and Congresswoman Lawrence are co-chairs of the Skilled Workforce Caucus, a bipartisan group that is committed to shrinking the “skills gap” by supporting the development of the skilled trades throughout the entire country. Last October, Congressman Hill traveled to Congresswoman Lawrence’s district to visit with companies, organizations, and employees in Detroit that are directly tied to work in the skilled trades. The visits on Friday will highlight not just opportunities for training in the skilled workforce in central Arkansas, but also the types of aspirational careers that can be obtained without having a traditional four-year college degree.
