LITTLE ROCK, Ark - A shadowbox full of medals and an Arkansas Veteran are in the same place for the first time since the Vietnam War. Congressman French Hill and Robert Sangalli's family surprised the Fore 101 first airborne radio man today.
Sangalli was awarded the Bronze Star for valor under fire among others. One medal that he never received was the Purple Heart. After he was wounded, Hills office was able to get that medal for Sangalli.
Like every selfless hero, Sangalli says its not about the medal and is glad that Vets are getting the attention they deserve.
"I'm just glad all the veterans are being honored so much more than they used to be. " said Sangalli.
"I wasn't there but the ones I feel were most neglected are the Korean war veterans but I think are begining to gain a little momentum too "
Sangalli says that after recouping from getting wounded, he headed back into the jungle to be with his unit and never thought about his medals.
