Dear Friends,

This month, we celebrate National Small Business Week, and as a former Arkansas business owner, I'm committed to help Arkansas's job creators thrive. I have proudly supported lowering tax rates, reducing unnecessary red tape, and investing in skilled workforce development–all of which has helped empower our small businesses to invest in Arkansas families.

A new survey of small business owners shows that they are optimistic about the future. Seventy percent are optimistic about their financial outlook for the next twelve months, and eighty-four percent say that “their company's financial situation will be either very good or somewhat good one year from now.” It’s clear that the rising economic tide is lifting all boats.

Small Businesses in Arkansas make up 99.3% of Arkansas businesses, and employ 479,727 workers at 247,018 small businesses. I am sure each of you knows someone who has their own small business or works at one. The entrepreneurs who own these businesses are among the nation's top innovators, taking risks every day to achieve the American dream and help our Arkansas community succeed.

The important role small business owners play in our communities cannot be understated. These entrepreneurs sponsor our youth sports teams, are closely involved in facilitating local events, and most importantly, provide much-needed jobs. I encourage all Arkansans to shop locally at a small business this month in support of these vital economic engines.

Sincerely,
Representative French Hill

Meeting with Small Business Owners in Central Arkansas

Small businesses take on many forms--from your local coffee shop, to your hardware store, and the construction companies that help Arkansas communities grow. One of the best parts of my job is meeting with countless entrepreneurs who shape the places we call home.

Over the past month, I've traveled all around central Arkansas to hear from small business owners and see how they are working to better serve our state. Scroll below to see some of my photos from the road.

Business Leaders Focused on Growing Arkansas's Economy

On top of celebrating National Small Business Week, the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce traveled to Washington D.C. last week for their annual fly-in meeting. The Chamber of Commerce plays a major role in connecting local Arkansas small businesses with the resources they need to be successful.

The entire Arkansas House delegation (pictured below) is united in our efforts to put Arkansas on the map as one of the top states in the entire country for new business growth. It was a pleasure to be able to speak with our state’s business leaders about what we can do to keep cultivating growth in Arkansas.
