Dear Friends,
Happy Easter! Today, I am spending time with my family, remembering the importance of this resurrection day. I hope that you and your family have a Blessed day. Click here to watch video.
This week, I've been home in central Arkansas spending time with families, job creators, preschoolers, airmen and women, and more. It's always good to be in the Natural State getting to hear from you on issues that matter most to you and your family.
On Tuesday, Senator John Boozman and I hosted Secretary of the Air Force Heather G. Wilson in central Arkansas. We had a "sneak preview" of the globally competitive technology that students from K-12 through college will use at the new cyber security range at University of Central Arkansas. I’m confident that their partnership with the United States Air Force and Arkansas National Guard will bring economic development to central Arkansas as well as help keep our nation safe through the development of our Nation’s cyber force. (A shoutout to all UCA Bears!)

With Secretary Wilson, we also visited Little Rock Air Force Base where we met with the airwomen and airmen who serve central Arkansas. We visited several sites around base, including the Sensitive Compartmentalized Information Facility (SCIF) building, and talked about how we can assist the National Guard and the USAF in obtaining more missions in addition to their current training mission at the SCIF. Central Arkansas is grateful for Secretary Wilson’s sustained interest in the success of our Air Base.

Thank you Rachel Parker for the investment you make in the children at Ferncliff Nature Preschool in Pulaski County. I had a lot of fun seeing the children create things from natural resources like creeks, puddles, trees, and insects. Experiential learing for our young children is an important component of quality growth and development. For more information, click here.
I was humbled by the opportunity to stand before veterans from all across Arkansas to thank them for their service to their country. In honor of Vietnam Veterans Day, the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs hosted a commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War, and being surrounded by these patriots and heroes reminded me of the selflessness and bravery of these and other central Arkansans serving the state and nation.
My District Representative Chloe Maxwell was on hand for the release of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) and the Women's Foundation of Arkansas's report on the economic status of women in Arkansas. Dr. Sarah Beth Estes (left) sits on the board of the Women’s Foundation and is a UALR's Professor of Sociology and she conducted the report, and Anna Beth Gorman (right) is the Executive Director of Women’s Foundation. This report revealed important information, including that the percentage of women in business and management in central Arkansas is higher than the national average while Arkansas’s women-headed households with children under 18 have a higher rate of poverty than the national average. This report will be an superb resource for policymakers at the federal and state levels. Congratulations to UALR and WFA for this valuable report!
