Photos From the Road
August 16, 2019

All throughout the month of August, I'm hittin' the road and traveling around the state to meet with central Arkansans, including veterans, farmers, business owners, and teachers.

I've had a lot of fun so far this month and want to share some of my favorite pictures from the road. For more behind-the-scenes photos, be sure to follow me on Instagram at @RepFrenchHill and on Twitter at @RepFrenchHill

Sincerely,

11-year-old From Beebe Gets Book Added to Library of Congress

Hudson Dunlap, from Beebe, wrote a book last year titled The Bee: A Kid’s Guide to Getting Started in Beekeeping. This month, Hudson and his family visited my Washington, D.C. office for a tour of the U.S. Capitol Building and Hudson said it would be a dream come true to have his book included in the Library of Congress. It was my pleasure to formally request his book be submitted. Last Friday, I visited the Dunlap family bee farm in Beebe to deliver the news that Hudson’s book had officially been accepted into the Library of Congress and presented him with a Congressional certificate of recognition.

Serving Lunch at the Lightle Senior Center

While I was in White County, I stopped by the Lightle Senior Center in Searcy to serve lunch and visit with seniors. The city-owned center has paired with the White County Aging Program which serves hot and nutritious lunches every day to about 75 people. This program also delivers home-cooked meals to housebound seniors through Meals on Wheels. It’s a lively bunch, and always a pleasure to visit!

Visiting the White County Farm Family of the Year in Searcy
Few Arkansans love cows as much as Ouida and Lester Cossey, who own and operate the Flying C. Ranch in Searcy. Their outstanding cattle ranching business earned them the title of White County Farm Family of the Year for 2019. I got to tour their farm and meet their award-winning cattle up close in person. Congratulations to this great central Arkansas farming family!

Lieutenant Governor Tim Griffin's Promotion Ceremony
I was proud to deliver the Pledge of Allegiance at Lieutenant Governor Tim Griffin's promotion ceremony in the rotunda of the state Capitol. The Lieutenant Governor was promoted to the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. It is an honor to call Tim Griffin a friend and patriot as he continues to serve the people of Arkansas.

Talking Workforce Enhancement with Little Rock Rotary Club
Thank you to the Rotary Club of Little Rock for allowing me to speak on a topic that is not only a top agenda item in our nation's capital, but more importantly, the top agenda item for all of our governors, our school superintendents, and our boards of higher education. The topic is workforce enhancement: how we grow our workforce and expand its effectiveness. Click HERE to learn more.

 Japan's Ambassador Visits Little Rock
It was an honor to host a business roundtable with Japan's Ambassador to the United States, Shinsuke Sugiyama in Little Rock. We discussed ongoing trade talks with China, the USMCA trade deal, and bilateral trade talks between the U.S. and Japan. In Arkansas, there are more than 330,000 jobs supported by trade. Our strong relationship with Japan is critical to ensuring economic growth for Arkansas farmers and manufacturers.
