Dear Friends,

It was a beautiful week in central Arkansas, and I enjoyed getting to spend time hearing from Arkansas farmers, veterans, students, community leaders, and more. Thank you for taking time to keep up with my work as I represent you!

Listening to Arkansas Rice Farmers

Harvest season is a very special time in our state, and I appreciate Bearskin Farm and Isbell Farms for the ring-side view of a process that is so crucial to our economy and I thank the Arkansas Rice Federation for coordinating. Our Arkansas farmers continue to utilize innovative technologies as they maintain a competitive advantage within our state’s largest industry.

Hearing from our Heroes

I value the experiences our Arkansas veterans share with me as I continue fighting for them in Congress. It was an honor to hear from my Pulaski County Veterans Advisory Council and to give them an update from Washington. Special thanks to Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Headquarters in Sherwood for hosting us.

My office stands ready to assist our heroes. If you, or someone you know, need assistance with the VA, please contact my team at (501) 324-5941 or at hill.house.gov.

Committed to Excellence

I was honored to be a part of the groundbreaking for LISA Academy's new North Little Rock Facility on a beautiful but hot day. Congratulations to Superintendent Dr. Fatih Bogrek and his team. While there, I drove the student-built solar powered car, which can reach top speeds of 55 mph!  Watch video here. This is just one example LISA Academy’s continued commitment to excellence and their devotion to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education.

Congratulations, Margie Towery!

Margie Towery has made an indelible mark on Arkansas’s youth with her advocacy of STEM education for girls. On the U.S. House Floor, I congratulated Margie on being named the 2018 Greenbrier Public Schools Teacher of the Year. Thank you, Margie, and thank you to all of our Arkansas schoolteachers for mentoring and preparing our youth for success. Watch here

Have You Signed Up?
Pictured: Congressman Hill with 2017's Congressional App Challenge Winner, Anne Li, at the Congressional App Challenge Reception in the U.S. Capitol.

Are you a high school student? Have you signed up for the Congressional App Challenge yet? It's a terrific way to learn coding or improve your coding skills to create software application, or "app," for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of your choice.

As a reminder, submissions are due October 10, 2018. To participate, students must submit videos talking about what their app does or what their app will do. Apps will be judged by a panel of individuals within the academic, software and entrepreneurial fields. The winning student’s app will be featured on the U.S. House of Representative’s website and will be on display in the U.S. Capitol. Students may register as a team or as an individual. To register and to submit your app, click here

Those interested in participating are encouraged to contact Chloe Maxwell in my Little Rock office by phone at (501) 324-5941 or by email at chloe.maxwell@mail.house.gov.

Always Great to Talk with Kevin Miller
Every Thursday morning at 7:11 AM CT, KARN News Radio 102.9’s Kevin Miller and I discuss local and national issues impacting central Arkansans. This week, we talked about my advocacy for civilians in Syria, how we are funding the government – including for Little Rock Air Base – on time, and what tariffs mean for Arkansas families and job creators. Listen here

Thank you for taking time to keep up with the work I'm doing on your behalf. If I can be any assistance to you or your family, please reach out to my office at (501) 324-5941 or Hill.House.Gov

Sincerely,

Representative French Hill
