Dear Friends,

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

I offer my deepest condolences to Justice Ginsburg’s family. In 2019, Martha and I had the pleasure of seeing her speak at the University of Arkansas’s Clinton School of Public Service. Nominated by President Clinton in 1993, Justice Ginsberg has been a trailblazer and role model for women.

Our nation has lost a brilliant jurist.

your ideas make a difference

Paving the Way for the Little Rock Port Super Side Expansion

During my time in Congress, I have listened closely to you as you have shared ideas with me. I recently started a video series called “Your Ideas” where I highlight just some of the ideas that started right here in Arkansas and were put into action in Congress.

I have been aware of the need to attract industrial businesses to Greater Little Rock since I was the Chairman of the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce. One of the major barriers to a 1,500-acre super site expansion was the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) VOR navigation cone, which is located on property south of the Port of Little Rock. This navigation cone is used by all air traffic around central Arkansas and by the Little Rock Air Force Base to navigate their C-130 planes.

For years, Little Rock has been working with the FAA to move the navigation cone and help bring thousands of jobs to the area. But, with little progress in 2016, my team and Senator John Boozman's office joined their efforts to relocate the navigation cone.

In just over a year we achieved an agreement with the FAA to move the VOR cone, arranged to retrofit a more advanced one from California, located and tested a new site north of the Arkansas River, and arranged for a mix of financial resources. Today, we are in the final steps of getting more than four years of hard work seen to fruition.

Thank you to Jay Chesshir, the President and CEO of the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Bryan Day the Executive Director of the Little Rock Port Authority for their partnership on this project and participation in this video.

Recent OPINION PIECE IN THE HILL

Speaking Out Against U.S. Dollars Funding Foreign Dictatorships

On Monday, my op-ed “The Use and Abuse of the IMF in the Fight Against COVID-19” was published in The Hill.

Unbelievably, House Democrats support legislation that would provide access to over $170 billion to the Chinese government through the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as it sits on more than $3 trillion in foreign reserves, operates internment camps of Uyghur Muslims, and continues violating its international commitments in Hong Kong through the IMF.

The Democrats’ proposal would also provide more than $20 billion to Iran, classified by the State Department as the world’s foremost state sponsor of terrorism, as well as $75 billion to Vladimir Putin in Russia$17 billion to the Assad regime in Syria, and another $20 billion to Venezuela.

These billions would represent no-strings-attached money for some of the world’s most brutal dictatorships and would threaten our national security.

huge technology win for Arkansas

Venture Center Named Best Global Financial Technology Accelerator/Incubator

Previously known as the birthplace of financial technology, also called FinTech, today central Arkansas is the epicenter of FinTech innovation. I congratulate the Executive Director of the Venture Center, Wayne Miller, and all of the staff who have worked hard to take home the Best Global Fintech Accelerator/Incubator category at the 2020 Fall Finovate Awards, the world’s premier FinTech conference.

To date, the Venture Center has helped bring 76 companies across the country and the world up to date on the latest financial technology so that they can thrive.

I am confident that central Arkansas will continue to grow as the premier FinTech innovation hub in the United States.

Working to Bring a Safe and Effective COVID-19 Vaccine to You

Our nation’s best scientists, doctors, and medical manufacturers are working around the clock through Operation Warp Speed to develop safe and effective vaccines and treatments for COVID-19 – the key to restoring our way of life and rebuilding our economy.

The U.S. is committed to producing a safe and effective vaccine approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), in coordination with the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has already taken steps to prepare for the rapid distribution of a vaccine once it becomes available.

Volunteers are still needed for Phase III trials.

If you’d be interested in joining a medical trial, you can find a list of all the active vaccine trials and relevant contact information HERE.

Provide Your Information by September 30th

If you receive Social Security, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits, or Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) benefits and you are eligible for an Economic Impact Payment (EIP) for your dependent and have not used the Non-Filers tool, you must register online by September 30th using the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here tool.

For those unable to access the Non-Filers tool, they may submit a simplified paper return following the procedures described in this FAQ on IRS.gov.

Eligible recipients can check the status of their payments using the Get My Payment tool on IRS.gov. In addition, a notice verifying the $500-per-child supplemental payment will be sent to each recipient and should be retained with other tax records.

It is my honor to represent you in Congress.

Please contact me at (501) 324-5941 or Hill.House.Gov if I may be of service to you.

Sincerely,
