Dear Friends,
Do you have a budding student artist in your family? Want your piece of artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.?
J.R. Landers of the Vilonia School District (Vilonia High School) won the Congressional Art Competition in 2016 for the Second Congressional District. His painting, "Overcoming Darkness," hung in the U.S. Capitol. |
Each spring, I sponsor an art competition for the high school students of Arkansas’s Second Congressional District. It is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in my congressional district in central Arkansas.
This competition is part of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Congressional Art Competition that takes place in each congressional district.
The artwork of the winners in each congressional district is then sent to Washington to be on display in the U.S. Capitol building for one year.
Past winners from central Arkansas include Ivy Cox (Episcopal High School, 2015), J.R. Landers (Vilonia High School, 2016), and Haley Chandler (Vilonia High School, 2017).
Artwork and entry materials must be submitted to my Little Rock office by April 20, 2018. For more information, click here.
You also may contact Chloe Maxwell at Chloe.Maxwell@mail.house.gov or at 501-324-5941 with additional questions.
Sincerely,
Representative French Hill
