Twenty-five years ago today, America was attacked. Nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and aboard Flight 93.

Like so many Americans, I remember exactly where I was that day. As the attacks unfolded, I was glued to the television, watching in disbelief. No one knew what would happen next, but everyone knew things would never be the same.

I lost a good friend that day. Neil Levin, who was the Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, was attending breakfast at Windows on the World when the first tower was attacked. I think of him every year on this day.

Amid the horror and heartbreak, we also witnessed extraordinary courage, from the first responders who ran toward danger at every site to the 40 passengers and crew aboard Flight 93 who fought back and prevented the terrorists from reaching Washington.

In the days that followed, Americans came together. In the face of unimaginable tragedy, we stood united as one nation and showed the world the strength and resolve of the American people.

A quarter-century later, nearly 100 million Americans have been born with no personal memory of September 11. We have a responsibility to teach the next generation about the tragedy of that day, the heroes who rose to meet it, and why we must remain vigilant in defense of our country and our way of life.

Today, we remember every life lost, honor every hero, and remain grateful for all those who answered the call to serve.

We will never forget.

It was a somber Monday morning in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, as I joined my colleagues on the House Intelligence Committee at the Flight 93 National Memorial to honor the heroes of Flight 93 and reflect on the lessons of September 11, 2001. This was my third visit to this hallowed ground. Being there and hearing directly from the families of the 40 passengers and crew was a powerful reminder of the extraordinary courage and sacrifice we witnessed that day.

Following our roundtable discussion with the families and first responders in Shanksville, Intelligence Committee Chairman and fellow Arkansan Rick Crawford led a hearing where we unanimously approved the release of our bipartisan review of the 9/11 Commission’s intelligence recommendations. The report examines what we have learned since 9/11, where our Intelligence Community has improved, and where work remains to keep Americans safe.

I can think of no more fitting place to release this report than the fields of Shanksville, alongside the families of the heroes whose courage helped save countless American lives.

Caterpillar is a great company and an important part of Arkansas’ manufacturing economy. I recently had the opportunity to visit their North Little Rock facility alongside Governor Sanders and Senator Cotton as Caterpillar announced a new investment in our state's workforce.

Through its Building the Future Workforce Initiative, Caterpillar is investing up to $3 million to expand hands-on manufacturing pathways, strengthen technical training, and help prepare more Arkansans for good-paying careers in modern manufacturing. Caterpillar already employs more than 530 people in Arkansas and works with 60 suppliers across our state.

It was good to be with Governor Sanders, Senator Cotton, and the Caterpillar team to celebrate this investment in Arkansas workers and the future of manufacturing in our state.

Last month, I joined USDA Rural Development State Director David Branscum, Mountain Top Public Water Authority President Ricky Strain, and members of the MTPWA Board in Heber Springs to celebrate more than $4 million in funding for critical water system improvements.

This investment will add two major water storage tanks and improve system hydraulics, strengthening reliable water service for more than 3,400 customers. These upgrades will help Mountain Top meet projected demand for the next 30 years.

I’m proud to support investments like this that strengthen our rural communities and ensure Arkansans have access to safe, dependable water for generations to come.

I welcomed Egyptian exchange students Judy Tamer Morsy and Ghenwa Sherif to my district office during their visit to Arkansas through the Rotary Club of Little Rock's Ottenheimer International Youth Program.

Judy and Ghenwa are students at NewGiza University, where Judy studies politics and Ghenwa studies economics.

During their time in Arkansas, Judy and Ghenwa are experiencing American life firsthand through cultural, social, and governmental visits across the state. I enjoyed meeting them and learning more about their experiences in Egypt and their impressions of Arkansas and the United States. Both are impressive young leaders and outstanding ambassadors for Egypt.

HELPING YOUNG ARKANSANS

Recently, my office assisted a young Arkansan who needed to submit her passport to obtain a student visa for an upcoming semester abroad. In addition, she had an international trip planned for the following month and was concerned she would be unable to travel while her passport was being processed.

My team worked with officials at the Arkansas Passport Center to help secure an appointment. She was able to obtain a secondary passport, allowing her to take her planned trip while her primary passport was being processed for her student visa.

I'm proud my team could help this young Arkansan keep her travel plans on track as she prepares for her semester abroad.

These funds have been selected to provide diversified exposure across major segments of the financial markets while keeping investment costs low.
