Dear Friends,

I am fighting to get you and all Americans back to our way of life and to defeat the coronavirus.

That is the commitment that my colleagues and I have made to you and all Americans.

Today, I joined House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, House Republican Whip Steve Scalise, and House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney in announcing the Commitment to America.

The Commitment to America will help every American who is feeling displaced. This plan will restore our way of life, rebuild the greatest economy in history, and renew the American dream.

Millions of men, women, and children continue to struggle. Across Arkansas, hardworking employees have found themselves out of work. Parents are concerned about sending their children to school. Small business owners are contemplating closing their doors. Through the Commitment to America, we will help families, educators, and entrepreneurs make it through this pandemic.

United, one nation under God, we will overcome the odds, and engineer the greatest comeback in history.

We will never give up. We will never give in.

Prescription Opioid and Heroin Epidemic Awareness Week

Taking Action to Combat this Epidemic

Across Arkansas, heartbroken families have told me their stories about how the opioid crisis has claimed the lives of their loved ones. During Prescription Opioid and Heroin Epidemic Awareness Week, I want to bring attention to this national tragedy.

In 2017, more than 130 Americans died of opioid overdoses each day, and nearly half of these deaths were attributable to fentanyl. Because of one person’s input, Senator Tom Cotton and I took action to fight fentanyl trafficking.

Our bill, the Fentanyl Sanctions Act, passed the house in July, and we are fighting to make it a law so that other families won’t fall victim to fentanyl traffickers.

Arkansas Drug Director Kirk Lane and I teamed up to discuss the importance of this bill and how Arkansas is fighting this crisis.

Major DOT Build grant to improve U.S. Highway 67

Supporting a $10 Million in Grant Funding for Pulaski County

On Friday, the Arkansas Department of Transportation was awarded a $10 million Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).

I was proud to support Pulaski County Judge Barry Hyde’s and the state’s grant application. These funds will help move people and commerce along this corridor faster and more safely and will support jobs in central Arkansas.

These grants will help Arkansans get to work faster, visit family more easily, and improve the condition of transportation by the reconstruction and improvement of two sections of U.S. Highway 67 northeast of Little Rock.

In addition, the project will widen U.S. Highway 67 from four to six lanes, construct an overpass, convert frontage roads to one-way operation, and rebuild two interchanges.
