On Wednesday, I met with students at Chicot Elementary School in Little Rock for the All-Kids Bike Event. All-Kids Bike partnered with Coca-Cola to donate bicycles to students and kicked off the incorporation of bike riding into the school’s P.E. curriculum.

It was fun to join Governor Asa Hutchinson and Little Rock School District Superintendent Michael Poore in putting together a few bikes for the students. I also had the opportunity to share a few stories from my own childhood with the students. We talked about the favorite things they did this past summer and they told me about their pets. They are so excited about these bikes!

CONGRESSIONAL APP CHALLENGE

The Congressional App Challenge is now open to 8th to 12th grade students. The purpose of the App Challenge is to get students interested in the world of coding, app development, and computer science, and to start building industry connections early.

AUGUST 2021 VETERANS CASEWORK WINS

One of the most important duties I have as a member of Congress is to provide assistance for our veterans. The best way to support Arkansas’s veterans is to understand the issues they are dealing with.

I am proud to have two combat vets on my team to directly help Arkansas’s veterans get the benefits they have earned and deserve.

CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT VACCINES

About 88% of current COVID-19 hospitalizations and 87% of COVID-19 deaths since February 1, 2021, have been of those who are unvaccinated.

To protect Arkansas children, and teachers, I strongly encourage all Arkansans who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 to consult with their doctor about getting vaccinated.

Recently, the federal government has found the vaccine safe and effective, and the Pfizer vaccine was recently given full approval by the FDA for those 16 and older.

For many Arkansans that I have heard from, full FDA approval will help them in their consideration of the vaccine.

Studies have found that those fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are much less likely to get infected and a small percentage of those that become infected after receiving a vaccine have experienced milder cases of COVID.
