VETERANS HISTORY PROJECT: LOCAL VETERANS MIKEL BROOKS AND MICHAEL DANE SPRINGER
This weekend is about more than just enjoying the long weekend. It's about the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Ahead of Memorial Day, I stopped by the Jacksonville Museum of Military History to remember the lives of our fallen heroes.
Thank you to Mikel Brooks and Michael Dane Springer for sharing your stories, serving our country, and joining me to speak on the importance of this special day of remembrance.

THE NEW WORLD WAR I MEMORIAL IS NOW OPEN IN WASHINGTON, D.C.
I recently visited the new WWI Memorial in our nations’ capital.
This uniquely Arkansan-designed memorial recently opened to the public and I was able to see Fayetteville-native, Joseph Weishaar’s project firsthand. While walking the new memorial, I thought of American troops who fearlessly crossed the Atlantic to fight in a war that they knew was to attain freedom worldwide. Among them were my grandfather Jay Hill and my great uncle Ralph Hill. I sincerely appreciate their, and many others’ determination in fighting and winning this conflict for the sake of peace and prosperity.
Overall, around 72,000 Arkansan soldiers fought in WWI, contributing to the makeup of a 4.7-million-member American war machine that was able to bring an end to the conflict within a year of the troops stepping ashore. If visiting Washington, I strongly encourage you to take a moment to view this Arkansan-designed creation for yourself.
VISITING THE CENTRAL ARKANSAS VETERANS HEALTHCARE SYSTEM
It put a smile on my face to see veterans receiving the healthcare they deserve, after fighting for our country, when I visited the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) to meet with hospital leadership and patients at the facility.

ATTENTION SALINE COUNTY VETERANS
Saline County veterans are invited to join me Friday, June 4th at 11:30am CT for my Veterans Advisory Council's virtual meeting.
We will discuss VA healthcare, benefits, and many other services available for veterans. Please come with questions as my Director of Military and Veteran Affairs, David Carnahan, and I will be on the call and ready to assist veterans with any issues they may have.
It is an honor to serve the more than 50,000 veterans who live in central Arkansas. I am committed to hearing your concerns and ensuring that you receive the highest quality care and benefits.
If you would like to attend, please call my office at (501) 324-5941 to RSVP or visit my website to register.
If you are not a resident of Saline County and are interested, I will be hosting more Veteran Advisory Council Meetings for counties throughout the district in the future.
