Dear Friends,
On Wednesday, July 15, 2015, I had the pleasure of being joined by over 1,000 residents of Saline County, Arkansas in a Tele-Town Hall discussion on the issues facing Congress and the work that has been done during my first six months as your U.S. Representative.
It was an informative and helpful to hear from so many in Saline County, answer their important questions, and hear their views on the policies and issues being worked on in Congress. The essential information provided in our discussion will help me to best represent Arkansas’s Second Congressional District and reflect the needs, concerns, and ideas of my constituents.
I will to use my position in Congress to address the challenges that many Arkansans are facing today, and I am grateful for your input on the issues. It is an honor serving as your Congressman, and I look forward to continuing to engage with you and our local communities to look for commonsense ways to grow our economy and fight for accountability in federal spending and regulations.
If you were not able to participate in the call or did not have the opportunity to ask a question, please feel free to contact me here with any questions or concerns. Iranian Secrecy
This week, the House Financial Services Committee's Terrorism Task Force held a hearing on the topic of the Iranian Nuclear Deal.
During the hearing, Rep. Hill questioned Mr. Olli Heinonen, a Senior Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, about the side deals Iran is making with the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) to
govern the inspection of the Parchin military complex.
Below is a partial transcript of Rep. Hill's questions and Mr. Heinon's answers:
Hill: I was interested in talking about for a minute the IAEA annexes to the agreement. Secretary Kerry was really quite dismissive of those in the briefing of Congress earlier this afternoon. What amount of importance should we put on the Iranian document with IAEA in terms of studying as a part of fully understanding the verification regime?
Mr. Heinonen: I think it is one of the most important activities; I have been dealing with Iran [for 12 years]. One of the most difficult things was to get things written down on paper. What was not written, what was not specified, was allowed. So therefore, I think all those documents should be available for IA member states. I don't see any technical reason why those should be a secret.
