Today I kicked off my Veterans Women's Initiative (WVI) with a virtual roundtable. I heard directly from women veterans in our community how I can best serve them, and shared resources available for female veterans in central Arkansas. I started the WVI to bring together women veterans to advise me on needs specific to you and your loved ones and to highlight the resources available to you. If you would like to participate in the next discussion, contact Dlayne Tucciarone in my office, who is a fellow woman veteran, at (501) 324-5941 and Dlayne.Tucciarone@Mail.House.Gov. Help me better serve the women veterans of central Arkansas by clicking HERE to take my survey.
Tuesday, I was present on the South Lawn of the White House for a historic occasion -- the signing of the Abraham Accords. This achievement proves the success of President Trump’s years of work resetting American leadership in the Middle East and support for our ally, Israel. These accords are an important step for peace in the Middle East. Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates are the first Arab countries to normalize relations with Israel in more than two decades. I applaud the president, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Emirati Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, and Bahrani King Hamad Al Khalifa for coming together to achieve this historical milestone.
Wednesday, I wore purple to demonstrate my support of National Recovery Month and for every heartbroken family in Arkansas who has lost a loved one to addiction. Supporting those who are in recovery from substance abuse disorders and mental illness is some of the most important work that Congress has done. A bipartisan bill I introduced with Rep. Max Rose (D-NY), the Fentanyl Sanctions Act, was included in last year’s National Defense Authorization Act, which was signed into law in December 2019. I will continue to partner with our community leaders and law enforcement to raise awareness of the dangers of drug abuse and support effective education and treatment programs to curb this alarming trend for all Americans who struggle with addiction.
I would like to share resources that can help parents, educators, and students succeed during this unique school semester. Many historical associations are offering distance learning programs for students learning at home. The Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C., offers distance learning programs for both individuals and school programs. Using live videoconferencing, teachers, students, and history-lovers alike can engage with online primary source images and participate in interactive, virtual field trips, and live-streamed events. These are wonderful opportunities for Arkansan families, educators, and history lovers to continue to learn more about our nation’s fascinating past.
It is my honor to represent you in Congress. Please contact me at (501) 324-5941 or Hill.House.Gov if I may be of service to you. Sincerely, Representative French Hill |
