Dear Friend,

Traditionally, Thanksgiving has been a time to gather with friends and family from both near and far.

This year, in light of the ongoing pandemic, circumstances are necessarily changing, and I hope you will find the following recommendations helpful:

The Arkansas Center for Health Improvement recommends celebrating safely at home instead and gathering with loved ones remotely.

If you plan to travel out of the state and wish to take a COVID-19 test beforehand, please visit the Arkansas Department of Health’s website to find a health unit near you.

If attending a family gathering, Arkansas Health Secretary Dr. José Romero recommends celebrating in a group of fewer than ten people. And keeping open windows open for additional ventilation.

Dr. Romero also has recommended not taking loved ones out of nursing homes during Thanksgiving because they will not be allowed to return immediately due to potential COVID-19 exposure.

Remember the “Three Ws”:

Wear a mask
Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds
Watch your distance and remain at least six feet apart
