Dear Friend,

I strongly encourage all Arkansans who are not currently vaccinated against COVID-19 to consult with their doctor about getting vaccinated.

With the school year about to start and the Delta variant surging, it is vital that all Arkansans do what we can to stop the spread of COVID-19 and protect our community.

  • There are 22,815 active COVID cases in the state
  • 1,373 Arkansans are currently hospitalized
  • There are only eight ICU beds available in the state
  • 286 Arkansans are on ventilators

Those that are fully vaccinated are much less likely to get infected with COVID-19, and the small percentage of those who become infected after receiving a vaccine have experienced milder cases of COVID.

The Pfizer vaccine is available to Arkansans ages 12 and up, and the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are approved for adults over 18.

To find a free COVID-19 vaccine near you, visit vaccines.gov, call 1-800-232-0233, or text your zip code to 438829.  For more information visit the Arkansas Department of Health website.

VA FORECLOSURE ASSISTANCE

Last week, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced that they are offering a new COVID-19 Refund Modification option to assist Veterans who require a significant reduction in their monthly mortgage payments because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Qualifying veterans can receive a 20% payment reduction in some cases.

With the VA’s COVID-19 partial claim option, the debt from a COVID-19 Refund Modification will not accrue interest or require monthly payments and will become due only when the property is sold, the loan is paid, or the loan is refinanced.

Veterans can receive a COVID-related forbearance through Sept. 30, 2021.

See more information regarding the COVID-19 Refund Modification HERE.

For assistance with the Refund Modification, or other VA related issues, contact my Little Rock office at (501) 324-5941.

SMALL BUSINESSES SURGING

I had the honor of joining my friend Keith Fulks and the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce at the ribbon cutting ceremony for his new business, Mr. Keith’s Kettlecorn.

Keith is a central Arkansas success story, and I am so proud of his work.  He previously operated a food truck serving his specialty kettlecorn, and just last week, he was able to open a storefront – serving our community by creating jobs and attracting customers to his expanding small business

I’m encouraged to see a small, family-owned local business open to Arkansans as our economy recovers from COVID-19.

Congratulations, Fulks family! I’m excited for more Arkansans to be able to enjoy Mr. Keith’s kettlecorn.

JULY VETERAN WINS

One of the most important duties I have as a member of Congress is to provide assistance to our veterans and their families.

The best way to support Arkansas’s veterans is to understand the issues they are dealing with.

In July alone, my office was able to help 66 central Arkansas veterans with VA casework recovering nearly $250,000 in benefits earned but not received.

I am proud to have two combat vets on my team to directly help Arkansas’s veterans get the benefits you have earned and deserve.

If you are a veteran, or if you know a veteran who needs help with the VA or other veteran-related issues, contact my Little Rock office at (501) 324-5941.

WELCOME HOME, SILVER MEDALIST KAYLE BROWNING

Who will forget our pride as Arkansas’s own Kayle Browning took home Silver at the Tokyo Olympics in the women’s trap shooting?

I couldn’t be more proud of Kayle and her family and I was excited to be on hand as she returned to Arkansas on August 3rd.

I was happy to be in Faulkner County with Kayle, the Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce, and local leaders as we honored Kayle.

And, I was honored to present her with a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol for her hard work representing the United States and the Natural State.

Congratulations, Kayle!  Central Arkansas is proud of you!

NATIONAL PURPLE HEART DAY

Saturday was National Purple Heart Day, a day to celebrate the service and sacrifice of all the men and women throughout the history of the United States that have served in combat and have been wounded in action.

I spoke with Staff Sergeant Jade Morin, a Purple Heart recipient stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base, to thank her for her service and discuss the Purple Heart she was awarded.

You can watch my full interview with Staff Sgt. Morin by clicking HERE or on the image below.

Sincerely,

Representative French Hill
