Dear Friends,

One of my most important responsibilities as your representative is advocating on your behalf before the federal government.

Each day, I work to help central Arkansans receive the benefits, services, and programs that they deserve as citizens of this great country.

Below are some of the ways that my office is helping your neighbors.

Contact me at (501) 324-5941 or Hill.House.Gov if I can help you.

TRACKING DOWN YOUR TAX RETURN

Advocating on Your Behalf to the IRS

Are you still waiting on your 2019 tax return? If so, I can help.

Over the past few months, I have helped almost 100 central Arkansans receive their tax refunds. My office has helped return nearly $400,000 to central Arkansans since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently my office was able to help a central Arkansan who reached out to my office for assistance after the IRS had informed her that she would not receive one this year. Thanks to my team investigating the matter, we were able to help her get the $2000 return that she was due.

We were also able to assist a gentleman whose family mistakenly claimed a tax credit that they were ineligible for. The IRS had then flagged their tax filing and stopped their federal return. Because the IRS is currently backlogged by 4-5 months on average due to the pandemic, the IRS had not looked at their filing.

My office filed a Congressional request which prompted the IRS to consider this family's dire need and fix the issue quickly and return $10,000.

Getting You Answers about Your Economic Impact Payments

Since March, I have helped or am currently helping 208 central Arkansans receive their Economic Impact Payments.

In March, I voted for the CARES Act so that financial assistance could get to you and your family quickly. This included a $1,200 Economic Impact Payment for individuals, $2,400 for families, and $500 for each eligible dependent.

When I learned that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) had been dragging their feet on getting these payments out, I led the Arkansas Congressman and Senators in this letter to the IRS Commissioner demanding action on behalf of Arkansans

I am working hard to make sure that critical funding gets to everyone who needs it.

Can I help you? Let me know if you have received your payment by clicking HERE or below.

DEADLINE EXTENSION TO PROVIDE INFORMATION FOR ECONOMIC IMPACT PAYMENT

REMINDER: Provide Your Information by November 21st

If you don't file taxes every year and you are eligible for an Economic Impact Payment (EIP) and have not used the Non-Filers tool, you must register online by November 21st using the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here tool.

For those unable to access the Non-Filers tool, you may submit a simplified paper return following the procedures described in this FAQ on IRS.gov.

Any person who misses the November 21st deadline will need to wait until next year and claim it as a credit on their 2020 federal income tax return.

Those who received their original EIP by direct deposit will also have any supplemental payment direct deposited to the same account. Others will receive a check.

Eligible recipients can check the status of their payments using the Get My Payment tool on IRS.gov

help with Social Security and Social Security Disability Insurance

Ensuring Access to the Benefits You Deserve

If you or someone you know is having problems with Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or the Social Security Administration in general, I can help.

Recently, I was able to help a single mother get her tax return and secure a monthly SSI payment of $1,500 that she needed due to a medical condition preventing her from working in her professional health care career.

Thanks to this stipend, she and her children are in a better position to overcome the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

ARKANSAS CONGRESSMEN DEMAND ANSWERS FROM SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION

Taking Action on Your Behalf

Last week, Congressman Steve WomackCongressman Rick CrawfordCongressman Bruce Westerman, and I sent a letter to the Commissioner of the Social Security Administration, Andrew Saul, demanding action on a policy that has been directly impacting Arkansans.

We also held a joint press conference to bring attention to this matter and to give those who are victims of the policy a forum to share their stories.

The Social Security Administration is asking Arkansans seeking a replacement Social Security card to surrender their primary identification documents such as drivers’ licenses for as much as thirty days.

This is forcing hardworking moms and dads to choose between violating state law or going to work or attending necessary appointments. While it is important to protect our employees during the current pandemic, this current policy already has had ramifications that have negatively impacted our community.

Our delegation and our staff get up every morning with the goal of taking actions to positively benefit our communities and the people we serve.

It is my honor to represent you in Congress.

Please contact me at (501) 324-5941 or Hill.House.Gov if I may be of service to you.

Sincerely,
Representative French Hill
