Dear Friend,

I am committed to helping Arkansas families break the cycle of addiction and beat the opioid crisis.

I invite you to read my op-ed with Arkansas Drug Director Kirk Lane.

Together, we are working to raise awareness and help Arkansas families.

Arkansas’s prescription rate is alarming – an average of 86 opioid pills per 100 Arkansans – the second highest rate in the country.

JUNE VETERANS WINS

June was another win for Arkansas veterans.

Last month, my team completed helping 28 veterans and recovered $402,553 in benefits for central Arkansas veterans.

On top of that, my office opened 61 new cases – that’s three new veterans helped each day.

I am proud to have two combat veterans on my team to directly help Arkansas’s veterans get the benefits you have earned and deserve.

If you or someone you know is a veteran and needs help with the VA or other veteran-related issues, contact my office at Hill.House.gov or call my Little Rock office at (501) 324-5941.

DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR EMERGENCY CAPITAL INVESTMENT PROGRAM

The U.S. Department of the Treasury has dedicated $9 billion to helping low-income communities.

The Emergency Capital Investment Program (ECIP), a new initiative, has dedicated these fund to certified Community Development Financial Institutions or minority deposit institutions for loans, grants, and forbearance for small businesses, minority-owned businesses, and consumers who have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The deadline has been extended. The U.S. Treasury plans to issue additional clarifications and amendments to the program and will provide an extension for applying. More information can also be found online HERE.

I encourage you to apply. Questions should be directed to ecipinquiries@treasury.gov, or contact my office at (501) 324-5941.

Are you or someone you know a veteran?  Would you like to help other veterans?

If so, please apply for the open position of District Representative for Military and Veterans Affairs.

This position is available through the U.S. House of Representatives Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program, a two-year full-time paid fellowship with the possibility of permanent full-time employment.  The fellowship will provide veterans with experience and exposure to broaden their career opportunities.  Fellows will help central Arkansans with matters before the federal government, including the Veterans Administration, and community organizations on behalf of central Arkansans.

STOP THE SPREAD; GET VACCINATED

I encourage all Arkansans not currently vaccinated for COVID-19 to consult with their doctor about getting vaccinated.

This is especially important given the rise of the Delta variant.

Here are two important facts:

  • 90.5% of current active COVID-19 cases in Arkansas are individuals not fully vaccinated.
  • 98.3% of COVID-19 hospitalizations in Arkansas since January 26, 2021, are individuals not fully vaccinated.

The best way to stop the spread of COVID and keep Arkansans safe is by getting vaccinated.

I spoke on the floor recently about the importance of getting the COVID-19 vaccine. The only way to fully reopen our economy and truly get back on our feet is with more people being vaccinated for COVID-19.

Please visit the Arkansas Department of Health for more information on where to get a vaccine.

Sincerely,
Representative French Hill
