Dear Friend,
Every morning, 800,000 men and women across the nation put on the uniform before going out to serve and protect our communities. I want to recognize the brave law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line to keep us safe every day. Now more than ever, they need our support.
Last Thursday, I was pleased to join Senator Tom Cotton and Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge in welcoming U.S. Attorney General William Barr to Little Rock.
At our socially distant law enforcement round table with the FBI, the DEA, North Little Rock Police Department, Little Rock Police Department, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and other city, county, and state law enforcement officers, we discussed the best practices to keep Arkansans safe.
At our lunch hosted by Governor Asa Hutchinson, Attorney General Barr heard about how Arkansas can serve as the model for other states when it comes to community outreach.
Later, at our roundtable discussion with Arkansas business leaders, Attorney General Barr, Senator Cotton, and I answered questions about how federal and local law enforcement can best protect small businesses and consumers.
During our discussions, Attorney General Barr said that, today, law enforcement has one of the toughest jobs in the United States, and I would agree. That’s why support from elected officials and earned trust from the community is critical to success. The most effective community-based policing systems are those that have proper funding and the proper training and that hold all personnel accountable. I will continue to partner with local leaders to implement commonsense reforms that establish a system where public safety and the well-being of our law enforcement officers is the priority and where bad cops are held accountable.
Sincerely,
Representative French Hill
