Since President Biden became president, we have gone from crisis to crisis.

During my telephone townhall last week, many of you expressed concerns with rising inflation and its impact on our family budgets, the crisis on our southwest border, and the Biden Administration’s egregious vaccine mandates. Unfortunately, President Biden has not demonstrated the leadership Americans need.

Last week I welcomed "Close Up" students from Mount St. Mary Academy and Catholic High School for Boys to Washington, D.C. They were here to learn about the city, its history, and the foundation of our nation’s democracy.

The students came prepared with excellent questions about key issues in Congress and what it is like to represent central Arkansas. I always enjoy having the opportunity to meet with students from central Arkansas!

Currently, over 1,700 Arkansans are hospitalized with COVID-19. This is one of the highest numbers since the beginning of the pandemic.

I encourage each of you to consult with your doctor and consider getting vaccinated. Vaccines are effective at stopping the spread of COVID-19 and are available across the state for everyone over the age of five. Boosters are available for those over the age of 16 who received the Pfizer vaccine.  Those who received either the Johnson and Johnson or Moderna vaccines are eligible for a booster if they are over the age of 18.

Currently in the Capitol complex, Members and staff alike are required to be masked. Using taxpayer dollars, Speaker Pelosi purchased and distributed masks manufactured in China. These masks have a bold “MADE IN CHINA” written on them.

I joined my colleagues in a letter to Speaker Pelosi to support American businesses – not spend taxpayers funds to support China. The full letter can be read HERE.

Monday, January 24^th marked the first day individuals are eligible to begin filing tax returns.  This year they are due April 18.

The Treasury Department is encouraging everyone to file early.  This will speed up processing your return and refund, if eligible. Filing online and providing direct deposit information will also help in getting your refund back to you faster.
