Rep. Hill Supports FHFA Decision to Shrink Footprint of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman French Hill (AR-02) released the following statement after Federal Housing Financing Agency (FHFA) Director Mark Calabria announced the elimination of the Mortgage Servicing Rights financing pilot program for the Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSE), Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac:

“Over the past three decades, I’ve criticized the GSEs for straying away from their original affordable housing mission. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have pushed the boundaries of their charter at the expense of the taxpayer which hurts the American people and stymies the private sector. Today’s decision by FHFA Director Mark Calabria to end the Mortgage Servicing Rights financing pilot program is welcome news that signals the administration is serious about limiting the footprint of the GSEs. I strongly support this decision by Director Calabria and look forward to working with the administration on enacting meaningful housing finance reforms that protect taxpayers and strengthen the dream of owning a home.”
