Hill Presents Medals to Vietnam Veteran, Ending 40-year Wait

Little Rock, Ark. – Today, Rep. French Hill (AR-02) presented two medals to Master Sergeant (Ret.) Robert Davis for his service in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

“Although it was a 40-year wait, I am honored to present MSgt. Davis with the Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross for his brave service during the Vietnam War,” said Rep. Hill. “I thank MSgt. Davis for his service to our nation, and I am grateful to my Veterans Team for their diligence over more than six months to see that he received the awards he earned.”

MSgt. Davis retired in 1975 but never received the commendations for his time served in Vietnam, and they were not reflected in his DD-214, which is the document issued upon retirement, separation, or discharge from active duty.

In May 2020, MSgt. Davis contacted Rep. Hill’s office for assistance, and on December 29, 2020, the USAF determined that MSgt. Davis was deserving of the Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross.

“Thank you to Congressman Hill for seeing that my request was granted and for advocating for our veterans,” said MSgt. Davis.
