Rep. Hill to Host Consumer Listening Session featuring CFPB Director, Arkansas Deputy Attorney General
WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Thursday, January 23, 2020, at 10:00 AM CT Congressman French Hill (AR-02) will host and moderate a Consumer Listening Session featuring Kathy Kraninger, the Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and Chuck Harder, the Deputy Attorney General of Arkansas. The event is open to the public and will feature a live question and answer session. This will be an opportunity for Arkansas citizens to ask consumer protection questions with real-time answers provided by influential policymakers.

Distinguished Panelists:

Kathleen Kraninger is the Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Prior to joining CFPB, Kraninger served as an associate director in the Office of Management and Budet, where she oversaw $250 billion in funding for seven cabinet departments and other federal agencies, including the United States Departments of Commerce, Homeland Security, Justice, Housing and Urban Development, and Treasury.

Chuck Harder was appointed by Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge to serve as deputy attorney general for the Public Protection Department in May 2017. Harder became Deputy Attorney General of Public Protection after having served as assistant attorney general in the Consumer Utility Rate Advocacy Division. More:

The Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General Office assists Arkansans when problems arise during consumer transactions. In 2018 the Consumer Protection Division resolved nearly 5,600 formal complaints related automobile sales and financing, healthcare, home repair and maintenance, real estate, credit and financial services, etc.

The CFPB regulates the financial institutions that are providing products like credit cards, mortgages and loans, etc., to Americans.
