As Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, my mission is to ensure our financial system remains a source of opportunity and prosperity for the American people.

That means helping families buy their first home, supporting small businesses, empowering community banks and credit unions, and letting investors put capital to work.

For years, families and small businesses felt the effects of Washington’s failures. Runaway inflation, excessive spending, and punitive regulation made it harder for Americans to buy a home, start a business, or access capital.

Under the previous administration, families heard a lot about affordability but never saw it. Under President Trump, that's changing.

Our economy is strongest when government creates the conditions for growth, not barriers to it.

Through the Working Families Tax Cuts, we increased real take-home pay for working families, encouraged capital investment, prioritized federal spending, and reduced waste, fraud, and abuse.

At the Financial Services Committee, we have complemented those efforts by advancing policies that strengthen our capital markets, modernize regulation, expand housing supply, support community financial institutions, and promote American leadership in financial innovation.

My 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is now law, which will help make housing more affordable and accessible for hardworking Arkansans.

The GENIUS Act was also signed into law.

The House has also passed the Main Street Capital Access Act, the INVEST Act, and the CLARITY Act.

We accomplished this by working on a bipartisan basis with Democratic colleagues who recognized the need for commonsense reforms that empower American families, small businesses, and the community banks and credit unions that serve them.

This work means small businesses can get the capital they need to grow and create jobs, more families can become homeowners, and community banks and credit unions have greater flexibility to say “yes” to local borrowers.

These are the building blocks of stronger communities, greater opportunity, and a more prosperous economy.

Funding the Government: For the second consecutive year, the House advanced all 12 appropriations bills through committee, while the Senate continues working through its process. That is why I voted for a bipartisan Continuing Resolution this week to keep the government open, ensure essential services continue, and give Congress additional time to complete the full-year appropriations process. 

Standing Against Socialism: I voted for a House resolution condemning socialism in all its forms and reaffirming support for constitutional government, individual liberty, private property, and free enterprise. The resolution also condemns the Democratic Socialists of America and several of its concerning stated policy positions.

Protecting American Elections: I once again voted to affirm that American elections should be decided by American citizens and support voter identification as an election safeguard. Arkansans deserve confidence that elections for federal office are secure across all 50 states.

Honoring Our Medal of Honor Heroes: With my support, the House passed legislation to establish a permanent home on the National Mall for the National Medal of Honor Monument. Our nation has a duty to preserve the stories of heroes like Medal of Honor recipients Hershel “Woody” Williams and Arkansas’s Maurice “Footsie” Britt and ensure their examples of courage and service live on.

The Fulbright Program, established by former Arkansas Senator J. William Fulbright, is one of our state’s great contributions to the world. For 80 years, his vision has brought students, scholars, and professionals from around the globe together to learn from one another, strengthen international partnerships, and build greater understanding between nations.

Ten years ago, I was proud to lead the House effort recognizing the Fulbright Program’s 70th anniversary and sponsor the planting of an American elm on the U.S. Capitol Grounds in its honor. 

A decade later, I am once again proud to continue that effort by introducing a bipartisan resolution celebrating the program’s 80th anniversary and reaffirming congressional support for its important work. 

On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of meeting with changemakers from Winrock International, a Little Rock-based organization doing development work around the world. We discussed their work in regenerative agriculture and strengthening food security, and how Arkansas can help build a more resilient global food system. 

Aaron Sundsmo, Winrock’s Vice President of Programs, who oversees the organization’s U.S. and international program portfolio, participated in the discussion alongside my former House colleague and close friend, Rep. Ted Yoho. Since leaving Congress, Ted has continued his work on global health, food security, and international development policy as a Senior Advisor at the Kyle House Group. 

Pet of the Month Update: Sadey Found Her Forever Home!

In June, we introduced you to Sadey, the sweet four-year-old Corgi, Pembroke Welsh, and Labrador mix from Conway Animal Services who was looking for a second chance. 

We're thrilled to share that Sadey has officially found her forever home! 

A family from Morrilton recently visited Conway Animal Services in search of a new pet. As they walked through the shelter, Sadey's friendly personality quickly caught the children's attention. With plenty of tail wags, happy licks, and her gentle nature on full display, it didn't take long for the family to know she was the perfect addition to their home. 

Thank you to everyone who shares these Pet of the Month features and helps shelter animals find loving families. Congratulations to Sadey and her new family. We wish them many years of happiness together!

Treasury just finalized the investment lineup for Trump Accounts as funding begins.

Initial contributions will go into a default, low-cost fund tracking the broader U.S. stock market, chosen specifically to keep fees well below the legal cap.

In the coming months, families will also be able to choose from four additional low-cost index funds:

• iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV)
• Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI)
• State Street SPDR Portfolio S&P 1500 Composite Stock Market ETF (SPTM)
• iShares Core S&P Total U.S. Stock Market ETF (ITOT)

These funds have been selected to provide diversified exposure across major segments of the financial markets while keeping investment costs low.

These accounts can be managed through the Trump Accounts app, available now on the Apple App Store and Google Play. If you haven't downloaded it yet, do so today so you're ready when funding begins Friday.

All kids born between January 2025 and December 2028 are eligible for a $1,000 federal contribution into a Trump Account. Millions of families have already signed up.
