Washington, D.C. - Reps. French Hill (R-AR) and Ted Deutch (D-FL), co-chairs of the Bipartisan Task Force on American Hostages and Americans Wrongfully Detained Abroad, released the following statement on the 5th anniversary of the disappearance of Majd Kamalmaz in Syria:
“Today we mark 5 years since Majd Kamalmaz was taken hostage in Syria. Majd, a psychologist, was in the region treating patients traumatized by the Syrian war when he traveled to Syria to visit family and was stopped by the Assad regime. We stand with the Kamalmaz family in appealing for his safe return, and we urge the US government to make the return of American hostages a consistent priority.”
