WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. French Hill (AR-02) joined Todd Piro on Fox & Friends First where he discussed his op-ed in The Wall Street Journal and his opposition to the Democrat’s proposal that would require the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to give $170 billion to China as well as billions to other nations like Russia, Iran, Syria, and Venezuela, Syria.

Key quotes from Rep. Hill are included below:
Rep. Hill on the IMF supporting developing countries:
"The pandemic has hard been a hard force and had hit our poorest countries in the world the toughest. There's no doubt about that. The developing countries in the world want to help the poorest countries, and that's why David Malpass at the World Bank has done a good job with funding for vaccines around the world. Here, the Democrats are wrong. They shouldn't propose $2.8 trillion in foreign exchange reserves for all the countries of the world through the IMF. You can't target it. You can't help the poorest countries through their proposal.
"Instead, countries like the Netherlands, the United States, and European countries will get money and some of the worst regimes in the world will get it like Iran and Venezuela. Who's pushing it? China. So, China is in cahoots with the Democrats to get this proposal through Congress because they are the world's largest creditor. They want these countries to have access to hard currency to pay them back from the pernicious debts they've imposed on the third world."
Rep. Hill on the importance of targeting IMF resources:
"It’s not targeted. You're helping the richest countries in the world with this policy and you're not helping the poorest countries of the world. You're helping the world's most involved in terrorism like Iran, Russia, Syria, and Venezuela. In my view, Republicans have a better plan, which is to use two IMF funds that are specifically targeted to help poor countries in this public health crisis. That's what we ought to do, and that's the way to go forward. The Democrats' plan only helps China and America's enemies."
Rep. Hill on actions Republicans have taken in the House and where Congress should go from here:
"We fought this back in the House and kept it out of the NDAA, the defense authorization bill consideration, and the omnibus spending bill in the last year. We need to raise awareness and urge our colleagues in the Senate to defeat this. It's a bad idea that's not the right American foreign policy."
