Rep. Hill on Fox Business' Mornings with Maria
Rep. Hill Discusses Flaws in President Biden and Democrats' Approach to Dealing with China

Little Rock, Ark. – Today, Rep. French Hill (AR-02) joined Maria Bartiromo on Mornings with Maria where he raised concerns about President Biden's approach towards China and his op-ed in The Wall Street Journal which criticized Democrat’s proposal requiring the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to give China $170 billion.

Key quotes from Rep. Hill are included below:

[Joe Biden] says he wants to be focused on the “rules of the road”. Well, that's the whole problem is that China for three decades doesn't play by the rules of the road. They don't play that way on intellectual property protection. They don't play it that way in opening their markets. They don't play it that way in the safe transit of the South China Sea, militarily. They don't honor each other’s territorial rights. And, they certainly are predatory in their debt practices in the “Third World”. They’re now the world's largest creditor country and they've achieved that by lending money on non-transparent, pernicious terms to the third world so that they can grab the minerals and energy they want to be the large superpower global rival that they intend to be over the next two decades. So, there's no reason for the IMF to turn around and give them $170 billion, which is what Maxine Waters and Dick Durbin are proposing, into special drawing rights. They say in the nature of the pandemic, that the IMF should do $3 trillion in hard currency through special drawing rights. The problem is that can't be targeted. That won’t help poor countries and Republicans have a better way of doing that.

Maria Bartiromo: Do you think President Joe Biden is going to hold China’s feet to the fire when it comes to all these broken promises?

Rep. Hill: If the Obama-Biden Administration is any indication, the answer to your question is “no”. That's why Congress, both Republicans, and Democrats have grave concerns about China's military buildup, their economic clout, and intellectual property theft not by playing by the trading rules or the capital markets rules. So, we're going to hold President Biden accountable for his China policy.
